Unlocking the Power of God's Word: A Journey to Discover the Treasure

Beginnings

I don’t remember when I first knew that the written word of God was important. You see, my parents read the word of God to our family before we went to bed each night. When I came to know the Lord for myself, I had an immediate desire to read the Word. My parents' priority provided a foundation for me and, as I grew older, I chose to continue to build on it by valuing the word of God.

Whether or not you have had a similar experience, it’s never too late to begin.  God’s words are always living and powerful and will provide wisdom in your everyday life.  Every word in the Bible is written for a specific purpose and there are no wasted words.

Ultimate Goal

God longs for us to know Him through His word. He preserved it through all the generations just so we can know His great love for us. In fact, Jesus is the word (John 1:1). He is the ultimate lover and what bride doesn’t want to hear her beloved’s words spoken to her?

Reading Out Loud

Have you ever wondered why God spoke creation into being? He didn’t just think it. He spoke words with His mouth. Genesis 1 “And God said…and there was…”. This is a significant key. God’s words are creative and they do not die. They last forever.

Speaking the word of God out loud changes the atmosphere and changes my perspective. After all, the Bible says: "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).  If I am speaking the word out loud, then I am hearing it which causes faith to spring up.

A few years ago, I realized that part of the strategy that I needed to get free was to declare words of truth from God out loud over myself. God’s words are redemptive as well as creative. I can speak His words when I am uncertain and even when I am afraid. He said His words will not return empty and they will accomplish what He desires. (Isaiah 55:11)

God's Word Gives Us Authority

You can declare the word of God with authority and conviction because His word is truth. Declare means to affirm or state something emphatically. God’s words are life.

Grounded

As our hearts are in the process of being healed, it is necessary that we are grounded in the word of God. The word tells us who we really are. It will connect our hearts to Jesus and bring security and stability. The word is truth and we need that truth to combat the lies that we have believed. As lies are exposed, we begin to walk in the truth God reveals to us.
